Admission (for foreign students)

The School of Contemporary Social Sciences prepares highly qualified specialists in modern social sciences (Sociology and Sociology of Knowledge, Knowledge Economy, Social Administration, Social Control, Social Philosophy and Cultural studies) combining broad theoretical training and multicultural education, capable of carrying out comprehensive analysis and developing approaches to the effective management of modern social processes. The study of various interdisciplinary subjects such as Social Demography, Social Geography, Sociology of History, Mathematical Methodology in Sociology, Social Anthropology etc. integrated within a framework of human diversity and sustainability enables our graduates to develop professional competencies suited to address numerous multidimensional human problems.

The School of Contemporary Social Sciences offers three academic programs: “Sociology”, “Management” and “Personnel Management”.

Application

Submission of documents for foreign applicants:

For bachelor degree programs

Submission period from June 15 to July 10, 2023.

For master degree programs

Submission period from June 15 to July 20, 2023.

Submission of documents for the first year of undergraduate and graduate levels (Bachelor, Specialist, Master) will be carried out in remote access on LMSU online platform https://webanketa.msu.ru (Webanketa) beginning from June 15, 2020. We strongly recommend to contact the faculty IRO with a due advance to verify your documents and get the assistance regarding the admission of foreign citizens.

Dates of entrance exams will be published later.

TUITION FEE

Bachelor degree programs in 2022-23 RUR 430 580;

Master degree programs in 2022-23 RUR 471 700.

Upon submission of the required documents, the applicant assumes his obligation to submit to LMSU all original documents uploaded to Webanketa at the time of his / her arrival to Moscow.

  • For undergraduate (bachelor): notarized copy of School leaving certificate (High school diploma) with a notarized translation into Russian;
  • For graduate (master) programs: notarized copy of the previous degree (bachelor or equivalent) with a notarized translation into Russian;
  • Notarized copy of academic record (transcript with the list of all subjects and marks) with a notarized translation into Russian;
  • Legislation/apostille confirmation on the education document;
  • A valid visa; *
  • Notarized copy of the first two pages of passport / ID with a notarized translation into Russian; **
  • A migration card;
  • A migration registration;
  • Digital photo 3:4.

* You can take exams on a tourist visa. After successfully passing the exams, it is necessary to sign a contract for education and leave the country before the beginning of the academic year. Therefore, tourist visa must meet this deadline.

After being admitted the student has to enter the country on a study visa, issued on a special invitation, which will be prepared by the faculty.

Please, find out the details of visa processing in the Russian Embassy in your country. It may takes about 45 days to get the letter of invitation, which is why we honestly recommend contacting the faculty and uploading the documents well in advance.

** Translation of the education document and its annex into Russian should be done and notarized in Russia, or made in the country, where it was obtained but notarized at the Russian Embassy or Consulate.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • The translation of the academic documents into Russian must be notarized or certified by the Russian Embassy or Consulate in the country where documents were issued. Please make sure that your name is translated into Russian in the same way in all the documents! If there is a discrepancy in the name in the notarized translations of the passport, diploma and visa, you will have to further verify your identity at the Embassy.
  • Please, mind the requirement to submit to LMSU all the original documents upon the arrival to Moscow and during the first academic year.
  • In case if the educational documents (School leaving certificate (High school diploma) are issued with delay / after the deadline for LMSU admission period, please ask the issuing institution (school, college) to supply a substantial letter proving that you will receive your diploma and to specify the date.
  • Most programs at the faculty are taught in Russian. To provide the appropriate level of Russian for the entrance exam and the further successful apprehension of the curriculum, we recommend a preparatory course of Russian language at LMSU Institute of Russian Language and Culture.
  • It is desirable that a tourist visa is issued for at least 20 days. This period will include time for the submission of documents and the taking exams.
  • It is necessary to arrive to the faculty in early September because the academic year starts September, 1
  • Applicants who graduated from MSU Centre for International Education and successfully passed entrance exams should take absentee letters from MSU Centre for International Education to pass migration registration at the faculty.
  • A foreign citizen is obliged to pass the migration registration within 7 working days from the date of arrival in the country (if the migration registration is carried out through the faculty, then it is necessary to provide documents to the international department of the faculty within 3 working days after arrival). Applicants coming on a tourist visa can register at the place of residence or at the hotel. Otherwise, the entrant automatically falls into the category of illegal migrant, he is fined, and he is deported with a ban on entry into the country for 5 years.
